Who ate all the Pies? The Debt Mystery

Image
I have a very good friend. He has a degree in accountancy and is good with numbers and exudes common sense. Which then brings me to what happened to him when he immersed himself in Nationalism? In 2014 Tom used to relish telling me just how much debt the UK had and how it was a good reason to vote for Independence. Unfortunately for Tom, despite having a degree in accountancy, he’d never actually read the accounts He still, to this day, has never read the accounts, despite reading accounts all day for a living. This is what Nationalism does to you. Had Tom read the accounts this is what he would have found These are from the ONS Country and Regional public sector finance dataset. They show quite clearly who has run up the UK’s debt over a twenty year period from 1999 to 2019. You can quite clearly see that England is doing really really well in getting it’s debt down whereas the rUK has been treading water for years and years and years with high debt and underperforming economies. So.

What’s in a Union?

What’s in a Union? Ask any person ‘What is a Union’ and they’re likely to say that a Union is a group of like minded people with common aims Ask Scots this question but split them into two groups Unionists and Nationalists The unionists are likely to say that the UK is a Union whereas the Nationalists are likely to say that the EU is a Union despite the UK being a country with one single Government with devolved administrations and the same currency and history and the EU is a collection of disparate countries with its biggest commonality being a common currency Just like good friends, Unions are there for you through thick and thin. Through the bad times and well as the good times. That’s what the UK is. The last time this Union was at war with itself was well over 300 years ago, whereas almost all of the EU countries were at war with themselves just under 80 years ago. This is the Union that the SNP promotes as superior to the UK.  The SNP, in its perverted wisdom, seeks to break u

Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics

Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics Every day, Nicola Sturgeon threatens to have another independence referendum and throw Scotland into more and more chaos. In the HOC we see the SNP continuously attack the UK and the UK political parties. They make statements about Scotland’s economy which are totally untrue and because politicians and the press are almost all unaware or not interested in studying and understanding Scotland’s economic figures, they get away with these false statements. This is even more important as the SNP’s electoral success is based on these economic falsehoods. Almost every nationalist believes that Scotland’s money is being stolen by England/UK and if only we were independent then we’d be able to keep all this money for ourselves and prosper as an independent Country. The reason why few people know about these economic numbers are because you need to know a lot about our accounts in order to understand them and few people do.  I would like to show you just how fa
